The average handbag contains the same amount of germs as a toilet and could be making you sick.
The Good Housing Institute carried out a study to find where in the home is host to more germs than the toilet.
They picked out eight spots including toothbrushes, remote controls and bathroom towels.

However, because handbags travel almost everywhere and are often placed on floors, they topped the list.
The report found home owners need to look past the obvious spots for germs like kitchen counters because they get regularly cleaned.
‘Few of us have time to clean everything we should every week but ignore these everyday items at your peril,’ it said.
You may never be able to brush your teeth in quite the same way again when you know toothbrush bristles allow bacteria to accumulate from the owners mouth and airborne germs from the nearby toilet.
Other black spots include remote controls and other electronics like keyboards and laptop screens can be a magnet for bacteria as are towels, dishcloths, pet beds, carpets and kitchen sponges.
To keep your handbag from being so grimey keep it off the floor in restaurants, toilet cubicles or train floors by hanging it on a hook or door handle.
Another top tip is to close the toilet seat before flushing and can soak toothbrush heads in mouthwash for a maximum of 15 minutes to keep them clean
