It’s that time of year again, summer’s over, the kids are back to school, and already we’re being subjected to the ‘C’ word.
And by ‘C’ word, of course, we mean Christmas, and the earlier each year countdown to the frenzy that is the season of goodwill to all.
However, this year Aldi has come up with a not-so-maddening way to mark the days until the festive frolickings begin, with a wine advent calendar.

The geniuses at the German retailer have created a calendar containing 24 mini bottles of white, red and rosé wine in collaboration with brands such as JP Chenet and Calvet. Now you’re talkin’.
It’s the perfect excuse to sip a glass each evening to ease yourself into the silly season and recover from the endless shopping, wrapping and cooking.
And of course it’s a great way to keep track and drink responsibly, with one glass per day, it’s not so easy to cheat.
So far the calendar, which will retail at £49.99 (€57), will be available in the UK from November, but fingers crossed it will make its way over here by December.
