My birthday is the 13th of a month so I can’t be superstitious about the number 13

In fact I’m not really superstitious at all. My sister used to like teasing me that I was born on a Friday, but I checked and it wasn’t! It was actually a Saturday. Saying that, it has fallen on a Friday every once in a while. I am pretty sure I fell off my bike and hurt my knee on one of them.

One year it was my birthday on Friday 13th. I was in work. A few of my colleagues had gone to the local shop to get their lunch (and a card for my birthday as I found out later). They came back to the office in great excitement. They said they saw Colin Farrell in the shop. Then he went to a nearby pub. Everyone was talking about it.

I was so curious and I just had to go and see for myself. So, when I got braver, I went with another colleague up the road and we walked into the pub. We could see him and his brother there. My colleague wouldn’t go up to them, so it was up to me.

I walked up and I said ‘can I have your autograph please?’ Except I said it to the wrong brother!! He said ‘I think you meant to ask him’, pointing at Colin. Right then, I wanted the ground to swallow me up. But I carried on the conversation. They were both lovely. They did look very alike to be fair, and Colin had changed his hair for his latest role.

I got the autograph. And I told them it was my birthday. They gave me a kiss on the cheek and wrote Happy Birthday on the autograph.

So Friday 13th wasn’t too bad in the end! And it was a birthday I won’t ever forget.
